Action updated!
This action gives the sixteen of us at We Are What We Do head office a chance to nip to the loo or make a cup of tea. Because this action means you're doing some of the work for us. The stuff we do, whether it's producing a book or a bag or giving a speech has a limited effect. But the projects they can inspire are unlimited. People have heard of We Are What We Do and set up movements in Uganda, collected over 5000 pairs of specs to recycle, taken over their school for the day, given our books to 150,000 employees... we've even had wellies decorated in our honour. Make sure you let us know what you've been doing.
Thank you, we've recorded your complaint. If you would like to contact us, please email us.

I cook vegan food for people who believe in eating meat every day. I take people to charity shops and fleamarkets who usually buy their clothes at big, scary shops. I talk to strangers about the things I am passionate about. To celebrate my sister's birthday I donated a bit of money in her name. I try to spread enthusiasm. 06 April 2012, 20:46New Year's resolutions

School projec 07 May 2010, 08:32Our presentation at plashet school
we had shown a presentation to all the year 7 form groups in plashet, and to 1 year 8 form. it was really enjoyable, but was also quite nerve-wrecking because it was in front of such a big group. overall i think it went really well!! 30 April 2010, 19:45Sustainability
Teaching sustainability through International Curriculum. 27 April 2010, 18:39Our presentation at Highlands Primary School
We ran workshops in Highland Primary school to Year Six's where they made posters and a role play in various WAWWD actions. They were able to understand more about WAWWD and had various inspirations from the workshop! 21 March 2010, 11:26Our presentation at St Bonaventure's Secondary School
Abigail Enye + Myself volunteered to do a presentation at St Bonaventure's Secondary School. There Was around 180 students and although they we're all in year 7 we were quite nervous, so we came in around 10-15 mins earlier to practice. Then they came in, sang a him and it was ready for us to start, we took a deep breath and started. They loved it, especially the video! they all laughed. we even interacted with them, asking how many people had brushed their teeth today etc.. we told them about the actions and our favourite one. They weren't so scary after all. We enjoyed it and so did they. IT WAS FAB! 20 March 2010, 11:59Our presentation at Highlands Primary School
we went into highlands primary school today and did a workshop sessions with three year 6 classes. We split each 45 mintues session into half and had the first half of poster making and the second half in roleplaying. At the end of each sessions the children got together and we had a feedback session as well as seeing somefantastic roleplays they had prepared. It was really good to see that so many of the children remebered the WAWWD slogan as well as loads of actions... The young speakers did a great job at presenting today and we all had a real good time! :) 19 March 2010, 19:28My fault, again.
First Presentation to Primary Children. Well lets say it could have been better, My fault for forgetting to save the powerpoint in the old version, but we coped, just about. Thank goodness I saved the video onto my memory stick, and we could improvise. Even if we did have to make a joke up on the spot, and to be fair it wasn't very funny.Head, shoulders, knees&toes was defo the highlight in which all the staff and pupils joined in, even if our member of staff didnt, and he just laughed at us. But to be fair I think I would have laughed if I was watching us.
And even though Lis was ill, and Phil and Pat got thrown with us quite late, well 10 mins before we were going, I think we were awesome. And my directions to the school GOT US THERE!!!! :) even if I don't know my right from left :)
Fingers Crossed next time the powerpoint works 18 March 2010, 16:00
Our first presentation
It was our first presentation and we were incredibly nervous to say the least, we hadn't practised or anything. Next time we definitely will, but all things considered it wasn't too bad.At first the year 7s were hard work because they were reluctant to put their hands up and join in and we didn't know the dance too well ourselves so they were copying us and well I was rubbish. Megan did especially well in getting them involved and well i think we were all relieved that she was in our group :) But we have been told that it was inspiring people to get up and do something they think they are unable to do, including some members of staff.
Fingers crossed the next one is better, and we know the dance 14 March 2010, 19:58

heres a few more photos for this event! Our presentation at Chrstchurch Primary School
We went to Christchurch Primary School and did a workshop session for an hour and a half with 30 students..We, the young speakers organised ourselves into various teams and we had a station stop system going on whereby the children would move aroun to each workshop and learn actions and do designing work such as creating posters with actions that could be displayed around the school. The event was very exciting and inspiring as we could see by the end of it so many children had learnt different actions and had set themselves targets to do these actions and tell their friends. We finished off with the students showing us their roleplays they had made that reflected on different actions! It was a great afternoon for us young speakers and for the children!
Our presentation at Christchurch Primary School
We went twice to Christhchurch primary schoolWe went and gave a presentation about we are what we do and explayined to the children through an interactive way about what changes they could make.

A few of our young speakers went to a local rainbows and brownies unit to get them involved with WAWWD. We ran both meetings, and had activities for the girls to do, which were both fun AND meaningful. They did a few actions on the night and had even more to do when they got home. It was a very successful evening! 08 March 2010, 19:00Workshop at Christchurch Primary School
We held an afternoon of workshops for the eco warriors at Christchurch Primary School. We had previously visited to do an assembly to years 3-6 and were now working with a select group of pupils. Second presentation, so Nerves weren't as high! I was there really early so had time to go through it all! We had a few hitches before the start, but once we got going, the assembly was brilliant. We played a video and used similar actions to the first assembly I did (as we thought they were effective the first time)! The school is now interested in classroom sessions! 03 February 2010, 20:50Our presentation at Upton Cross Primary School
It was my first presentation, so we were really nervous! First, we presented infront of the younger years. We talked about various actions such as recycle old toys, make someone smile, avoid using plastic bags and turning off appliances from the wall. Our main action was to walk your dad! We played the presentation for the action and it went down really well! Once the assembly was over, we introduced a programme for the school to undertake. On the action of "walk your dad", we proposed to give every child a pedometer and an additional one for a grown- up at home! Within 2 weeks, the class with the most steps win a prize! The school council arranged how they could test this and if it would work. All in all, they were all very excited! We then did the same assembly for the older years, which went well apart from one hitch with the presnentation! All in all, a very successful first presentation :) 03 February 2010, 20:36My presentation at Darwen Acadamy
I gave a presentation about WAWWD to the class I teach for pre-teaching. They listened and promised to complete one action off the website each, though I don't think they will ^^; 03 February 2010, 19:56SSAT national conference

First year presentation at Blackburn College
At the beginning of term, I volunteered to give a presentation to some of the first years that were starting Blackburn College, I was pretty nervous I'd say, I used the disc to help demonstrate a little bit about we are what we do, I learnt after watching another young speaker's presentation a little while before that the disc only had sounds and images but no wording so I was able to say some things that would link with what was on the screen. I got the first years involved, in the actions of remembering each others names by getting them to face one another and find out each others names, I thought this would be a good one considering it was the first day of college and some people might not know the person sat next to them, I also made everyone in the room do the action of "hugging someone" which I found amusing but everyone seemed to enjoy participating. 24 November 2009, 23:29my presentation at blackburn college sixth form
it was the first presentation i did alone. My audience was some of the new college students. i told them about WAWWD in college and to look out for all the events going on in college and how they could get involved in the young speakers programme and why they should.i planned to use the dvd but it didnt work properly and i didnt keep to the plan i'd made of my presentation but it was still okay and they were none the wiser and still got the information i wanted to deliver. 21 November 2009, 16:50

17 November 2009, 18:11Our presentation at Teachfirst Conference
We spread the word about We Are What We Do to teacher's from various of different places and schools. Many people are interested in the organisation and thought it was a great idea! 14 November 2009, 13:58Our presentation at TeachFirst Conference
Today I helped spread the word and the ethos of 'We are what we do'. The event entailed wearing the 'What will you do?' t-shirts and getting people (most of whom were teachers from around the country) to commit to actions. It was quite surprising who quickly people warmed to the philosophy and collectively we got about 50 people to commit to an action. 14 November 2009, 13:52Our presentation at Teach First Conference
We promoted our actions and more about we are what we do at this event at Excel. I twas great talking to different teachers from schools across the country who hadn't already known about we are what we do. We had some tasty sandwiches and gave out lots of stickers :) 14 November 2009, 13:46Our presentation at teach first

it was very scary and nervewracking!!! the presentation was to year 9's to 11's, and we introduced them to the way we presented to primary school children, which maybe didn't go down as well as expected! 12 November 2009, 15:50Our presentation at Chain reaction 2009
A day of mingling, spreading ideas about social change and discussing ways of moving views forward!! 12 November 2009, 15:44Our presentation at Chain Reaction 2009
Today I stepped out of Canary Wharf station not knowing what to expect from this event, the good thing is that I wasn't disappointed. I attended 2 workshops one teaching me how to better my campaign and how to connect with my audience so my message makes an impact, the other discussed the economical downfall of the UK which enticed me as I hear about these issues on the news not fully understanding it as well as I should, there are soooooo many workshops educating, and informing us. A GREAT EVENT, A GREAT DAY!!!!!!! 12 November 2009, 15:26Our presentation at chain reaction
it was great spreading our organization and telling other people about we are what we do. I got many people interested in it and hopefully most will look onto the website. 12 November 2009, 14:58Our presentation at Urban Green Fair

My presentation to an HR department
The week after the residential course i did some work experience at my step-dads work.. i felt pretty inspired after the course and didn't want to wait until september when the hype would've died down. I booked a meeting with the human resources guy and gave him a presentation. Now he's looking into integrating the whole movement into his company and buying the 'change the world 9-5' etc.. books for everyone. :) 09 November 2009, 16:06Our presentation at Blackburn College on 3rd July
The whole technology side of the presentation completely messed up. While one of us was trying to get it working again the other 2 explained more about WAWWD. Everyone seemed to grasp the concept and see some of the video material. As it was our first presentation nerves were high , but as we had just come back from the residential we still had all that confidence. 09 November 2009, 15:31Our presentation at Radcliffe Community Festival
We went along to a Community Festival at the reopening of the Radcliffe boys and girls club which was part of the Conservative party conference social action project. We got loads of people to agree to do actions and gave books out to families, MPs and Samantha Cameron.we are what we do!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

presentation to trainees @ DACA 20 October 2009, 07:59My mini presentation at Manchester Grammar School
I did a small presentation in front of my form as a practise and have realised 2 things I could do to improve the talk.1) Remember to bring my USB stick with media on it
2) Prepare enough material for the full amount of time
The real problem was that I intended to show some of the videos but I left my USB stick at home and then I had to improv the extra time which didn't go too well.
All in all the presentation was okay and I'm sure my next talk will be better! 16 October 2009, 21:00

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MRUJ6yPH0fk 07 July 2009, 15:58Thursday 23rd of April 3am at Outwood Grange College spoke to 20 people
This was my favorite presentation ever, with a range of students from the ages 11 to 17 I felt like our presentation needed to really be open to all audiences, to make sure everyone understood what we was here to say.
Not only was we telling these people what We are what we do is all about, we also shared our experiences, and told them what it would be like when they go on the we are what we do trip. They seemed really enthusiastic, and I was so enthusiastic with them they wanted me to come. 28 April 2009, 10:43
Tuesday 24th of March 10am at Outwood Grange College spoke to 90 people
The children were engrossed. The presentation was lively, interesting, jazzy, cool, involved everyone, funny, happy, informative and so much more. Those 90 children will never forget to smile today. The presentation at Newton Hill Junior & Infant school, was my favourite so far. We presented to years 4, 5 and 6, and it was our youngest audience so far. There was only three of us who went to do this presentation, and we went rather unprepared, we had 30 minutes to set up and prepare, we used the DVD as our basis and because the children was older, we got them to say the numbers, on the “amount of things you do in your life time†we got them involved with complimenting and smiling to each other, one of my favourite moments was when one girl turned to her friend on the right and said “you haven’t brushed your teeth this morning†as a compliment. We handed out gingerbread men and got them to share it with there friends, and right at the end we got them to do the actions to the we are what we do, idea, small actions x lots of people = a bigggg change!. I’m surprised you didn’t hear them with how loud they was.
If all presentations are that good I would do 1,000 more, it gave me such a thrill and I was happy for the rest of the day, the kids were talking to us after, and asking us questions and for help with there work.
Ultimately I think that if they was any more than 3, or 4 of us it may have scared them a little, we as a group bounced of each other and was like a show of our own. I really hope we can go back to that school again, and maybe adapt our show for the younger children at that school. 25 March 2009, 12:56
Friday 23rd of January 11am at Broomfields Junior School spoke to 102 people
Hi again, its Ben
Just got back from doing the presentation.
It went really well, we started out with the talk then we broke the room up into two and then they formed their own little groups. We got them to discuss the actions we put forward and discuss way in which they could change the world on a personal level. We wandered around asking what they had come up with, some of the things were brilliant. I got some really positive feedback from the head adn he was really pleased, he said he would have us back next year :). We handed out stickers and posters.
All in all it was good :)

Thursday 27th of November 9am at Parish Church Junior School spoke to 300 people
It's our last show~!! And it was great even when we were short of people!! Bo and Tam shared the lines of Snazzie and it was wicked!!! 01 December 2008, 11:55
Thursday 27th of November 9am at Parish Church Junior School spoke to 300 people
Thursday was our very last performance of the young speakers play "Teach Your Granny To Text" in 2008.
We were performing at a young speakers former school (Ben).
And his niece was in the crowd to watch the performance of over 200 kids and 10 teachers.
The performance preparation was eventful and due to no extra speakers being available to perform, we only had 4 actors to portray 5 roles.
But in typical MeWe style we turned a slight minus into an ocassion of huge pluses.
In the week leading up to the performance, Ben decided to that Harry and Enson would play their normal parts, and he would play BO, while the remaining lines of SNAZZIE would be shared between me (TAM) and Ben. After Noor sending an email telling all who could to come support the last performance, on one could make it unfortunately, but little known to us, one of the new speakers Elderin had travelled from Bristol just to support us and was there. So touching!!
We could not find the remote to do the music, so she did the music for us, (fantastically I must have, better than I ever could)
and as it was the last day and lots of changes were made, we totally let go of ourselves and did every scene with high energy, lots of laughs and lots of improvisation without deviating from the story, script or message.
The kids and teachers were so great!!
And after the show, Ben pulled his niece on to the stage as it was her birthday, we then invited any other birthday kids onto the stage and the whole school and young speakers sang them happy birthday.
Then some of Ben's former teachers jumped on stage to congradgulate him and remind everyone he used to go there and it was such a moment!
As the kids left we put the music back on and did a victory dance to celebrate the end of the tour. 01 December 2008, 11:55

this was a bit scary! we had to present we are what we do infornt of over 20 teachers. i was kind of nervous because up until then i had only presented infornt of young children. but thankfully, everythin went great, we played the dvd and the adults founds the animations hilarious and said young kids would really enjoy watching it because it was so interactive. we got good feedback from the teachers who had already experienced young speakers coming into their schools to talk about we are what we do. we showed the teachers the new book teach your granny to text and they loved it. many of the teachers gave their contact details so we could get back to them and hopefully do some presentations in their school. overall they wer really pleases to see young speakers like ourselves being involved in the community and helping to make a change to the world. :) 27 November 2008, 09:41

Having already performed in the morning we were all quiet quiet and tired on the way here and then we found out we had a really small audience so we were worried about interaction as sometimes it takes safety in numbers to get the kids going. BUT THEY WERE FANTASTIC!!! Such a great school with brilliant teachers. The kids loved it and so many nice ideas came out of the workshop including a round of 'if you're happy and you know it clap your hands'!! I think this could be incorporated in the future because it really does make you feel good!
A wonderful last performance for me. I shall miss Young Speakers, it has changed my life and I have never been involved in such a vigorous and draining performance!! xxxxxxx 20 November 2008, 11:55
Thursday 20th of November 8am at Haslemere Primary School spoke to 200 people
The teachers and the kids were so lovely and welcoming. The kids were very attentive with just the right amount of control!! They screamed when they were allowed to and were quiet as mice during the more serious parts. A very well rounded school and a pleasure to perform to. Another quick and bright performance :) 20 November 2008, 11:52

a crazy day, working on a dress all through the night before and then went straight to meet the other young speakers in the morning, i was not meant to be performing but Noor asked me to fill in, as my normal character (TAM), in the morning, but first as 'Snazzie' in the morning and I had never played him before and it was soooooooo much fun, really let myself go, everyone was bouncing of the wall, and though i was running on purely coffee, both performances were alot of fun, the school in the afternoon were really clever and thoughtful, and the morning school were especially energetic and lively, but in the perfect way and made the play even more special. 20 November 2008, 11:52
Wednesday 19th of November 9am at St James Cofe School spoke to 80 people
Today we filmed the Young Speakers play. It was a very different experience as we had microphones down our boiler suits and cameras all around us. After a while I was able to zone them out but we did have to take them into consideration during parts of the play. It was quite a small school so the audience participation wasn't as raucous as it has been but it was well received none the less. I'm so happy that we can now get the play into more schools in film format and inspire even more kids to CHANGE THE WORLD!!! 20 November 2008, 11:50

the day of the recording, and of course you guys were there, so not much explanation needed.
It was a pleasure to perform as always and was a real buzz to have it recorded. Only downside, is that me and my silly hyperactiveness disrupted my mic and you lost my sound for a like a 3rd of the play...but hay, thats showbizz! 20 November 2008, 11:50
Tuesday 18th of November 8am at Chain Reaction spoke to 500 people
Chain reaction was a massive event that brought people who care about the world together. Everyone played their part in creating awareness of issues affecting our world today. It was an amazing opportunity giving people the chance to make contact with others holding a similar view on topics including the environment, world poverty, entrepreneurship and much more. During the event, I took the chance to show my support for We Are What We Do, an organisation which encourages the idea of small actions in everyday life, carried out by lots of people, amounting to a big change in the world. I spent my time video interviewing individuals on their view of the organisation. I aimed to record a variety of responses concerning the changes needed in the world and in particular how the youth of today could engage in building a brighter future for themselves and those around them. As well as playing my part for We Are What We Do, I heard many inspirational speeches by different people explaining how they had travelled to various parts of the world to help the needy, from providing medical support to poor countries to meeting with world leaders in aid of creating a Peace Day. The event was an excellent way of allowing groups of people with similar targets of making the world a better place to join and discuss their ideas. It helped me remember the purpose of supporting the need for positive change around us and it gave me great pleasure to view the evidence of everyone’s hard work actually impacting the world. 20 November 2008, 11:31
Monday 17th of November 8am at Chain Reaction spoke to 500 people
hi,
the event allowed us to see how other people used their ideas to create a change and it was particulary beneficial to meet those who had been in that sort of business or field for a long time. The event was a definate eye - opener, speaking about the changes we were trying to make in our own way as We Are What We Do young speakers, as well as the ideas that were being discuessed and developed around us.

this event was absolutely wicked! we made contacts with hundreds of people who guided us into ways to get involved with further social enterprises. we also had unique opportunities to interview people on their view of we are what we do and what we could possibly do to encourage more young people to join us! :) 20 November 2008, 11:30

Excellent. It was highly energetic and kept all the children captivated and eager to participate. Our pupils considered how to keep themselves safe and the impact of their actions on both the environment and each other as a result. Kathryn Wier, TeacherWe were an actor down and performed the play slightly differently, by doing it more as a workshop and going scene by scene action by action, interacting with the kids and involving them, asking their views and ideas about what we performed and it was very powerful, we did a full workshop as well at the end, and the teachers as well as the kids did some brilliant acting and really let themselves go.
I know you probably can't put this on the site as it is a bit bias, but that is the best school I have ever bin to!
The kids were so bright and well behaved but very interactive and confident as well as well mannered. The teachers were truly inspirational.
After we finished and began packing up, we were playing some instruments of the schools as we waited to be let out, suddenly the class we did the workshop with, appeared and said they wanted to play a song for us on the steal pans instruments.
We were happy to listen and I must say I expected a big rush of noise that would not really sound too musical, but they proved me wrong and played an amazing tune, almost professional standard and we left only after giving them a huge round of applause.
I had a wonderful time and the speakers I performed with were amazing.
And James, (our driver and music man), did some acting and directing as well.
Brilliant day!

Excellent. It was highly energetic and kept all the children captivated and eager to participate. Our pupils considered how to keep themselves safe and the impact of their actions on both the environment and each other as a result. Kathryn Wier, TeacherDespite having one less actor, today's play/rehearsal/workshop thingy... was probably one of the most enjoyable performances I've been involved in, and the kids had so much fun. Everyone, from the children to the teachers, and even our non-acting music-man helped contribute and create the play as it went on and I think the kids in particular learnt so much from the experience. After the 'proper' workshop, some of the kids demonstrated their musical skills by treating us to a steel-drum performance too. 17 November 2008, 11:07

Excellent - just right for our pupils. It kept them interested and got the message across. We have started action challenges as a school. They responded really well to 'make someone smile' - some even kept tally charts to show me! Pam Barnes, TeacherIt was really good there was abuot 250 people we had no sound on our presentation so had to rely a little more on us speaking!!
We spoke from 9 till twenty past adn it was realy good all the kids enjoyed it and the staff. The school are going to concentrate on an action every two weeks and put them in the newsletters as well so all the paretns will know =) 14 November 2008, 15:55

I enjoyed your presentation on 'We are what we do' The children were obviously interested and were happy to contribute further ideas, as were the adults, like my husband, who remembered that newspapers were often cut up and hung by string in the outside toilets during the 40's.'An interesting and informative presentation with lively animation and plenty of scope for children's ideas'

It was the original cast today performing at Sara-Jane's old school and her nephew was in the crowd and that was sweet. The school had a strict time table to keep to so we had to hurry our scenes and it just made the play more intense and more hilarious! 14 November 2008, 10:40

Kelly, teacherThis was my second time playing Nicky today and it's getting pretty tough trying to stay 'disinterested' for practically the whole play. The kids were having fun, so were the rest of the cast, and even the teachers were enjoying themselves but poor old Nicky has to sit out most of it... Well at least there's always that song at the end. 14 November 2008, 10:35

It was funny first of all but it taught me something it taught me to be nice to deaf people using sign language and standing up for yourself, and turing off lights and not charging your mobile. Rajan, Age 10, Bond Primary School pupilWow, this was a slow one to get started this morning! The kids were great but I felt a bit funny because it was in theory my last performance. Our aeroplane soon took off though and we were flying, soaring with our messages! The kids were really on the ball and took a little while to get confident with their interaction. I'd taken the direction Noor had given us after our last performance to try and improve my own performance. It definitely helped. The performance was one of our strongest and Sarah Jane joined us as Snazzy with Isobel as Nicky. It was great to perform with 2 of the old speakers. James did a stirling job as usual on the old cd player! The kids were great and the play is really getting through to them, you can just tell from the workshops after. And oh Wow, the Workshops!! I used to do security at my Students' Union and leading over 100 kids in a workshop - my skills learnt definitely came in useful! Just hope I didn't seem like a drill sergeant......
I should just say too that I have just the utmost respect for Noor and the other Speakers involved with this initiative: We had rehearsed for about 3 weeks before putting on the play and she managed to not pull out a single hair! Sadly this might have been my last performance and I can say hand on heart being involved as a young speaker has changed my life. I have met hundreds of wonderful kids, had the opportunity to have a change on their lifetsyle and have also on a personal level reaffirmed my love for performance, something I don't think I would have realised if I hadn't done this play. I owe Ann-Marie, MeWe Youth, The Old and New Young Speakers and We Are What We Do a huge thank you for the small difference that will have a huuuuuuge impact on my future. This initiative really does do what it says on the tin! Thank-you and I can't wait to spread the word further.

It went fantastic i got loads of positive feedback from various members of the congregation.
I was thrilled with the reception :)
There were at least 100 people at the service...not sure on the action count.
I apologise for the lateness of this information
It was at Holy Trinity Church, Market Gate, Warrington
at 10:30 to 12 on Sunday the 2nd of November.
We interspersed the service with various prayers, readings and songs sketches related to the WAWWD message...there are countless links with Christianity.

Wow, another incredibly early early start! We had Noor, our director and old speaker, in the play today. I felt a bit odd because she used to play Bo, the characer I now play, but she did an amazing job as Snazzy.
The school had a beautiful hall, and we set up in time for the kids to come in. There was loads of them!! They were very polite to begin with but we soon got them completely overexcited, so much so we had to stop the play at the end just to chill them out a bit: Crowd control! They were amaaaazingly interactive and by the looks on their faces they were loving the play. I get so excited by doing this play that it's not hard to stay in character through the workshops! It's great to not be sitting doing a desk job but instead burning off some energy and educating kids, and teachers alike, throughout the play. We are running more smoothly as we get to know the play better and I feel that we are more comfortable as actors with our characters than we were to begin with.
The workshop was great, and the kids were very vocal; their acting was particularly enthusiastic! Another great show. I took great pride when reading back over some of the feedback forms! 04 November 2008, 17:30

- Performed 21st Nov instead -
This was mine and a few others last scheduled performance and so it was a little sad at the end when we were saying our goodbyes, but it was a great performance to end on as the energy and enthusiasm today was over the top. The kids really enjoyed the performance and joined in at every opportunity, and they got really involved with the acting in the workshop.
I hope this isn't my last performance, but if t does turn out to be, then this is a good-a space as any to comment about how much I've personally learnt and gained from being involved with MeWe young speakers the last few months. 31 October 2008, 12:35

Really enjoyed it! – very engaging for the children and it went very smoothly considering some of the young speakers were doing the play for the first time. Their energy and enthusiasm really stood out and the audience participation was amazing – largely down to the way the team made sure they interacted with them as much as possible. The children followed up the production by bringing up issues at school council. Please thank them from us

It's a strange feeling going and doing a second performance: that sounds odd I know but the way I felt after the first hadn't really sunk in until this one! The school was so much smaller but we were incredibly warmly welcomed. We had a bit of a different cast today and I was wondering how that was going to work out....it was great! The realisation of how important this play is is starting to sink in. I'm finding interacting with the children just amazing: they are seeeeriously intelligent, shrewd and relish in being the chance to perform themselves. The performance went well today, I don't think I'll feel like I did in the first again, that was a truly magical moment for me, not that the following performances won't or haven't!!
I did get so so sweaty today! Jumping around is hard work but it realllly wakes you up in the morning which is just fantastic and despite a few hiccups to begin with the kids were scrambling for autographs at the end. Autographs!! Haha, amazing. A very rewarding performance at a great little school. I also had a head swell moment when I read on a few of the feedback forms that Bo had been their favourite character.....within the context of the play obviously ;-) That's gives me great confidence as a performer to really do something like this again in the future: It makes me realise how much the kids really do relate to us during the performances. xx :-) 31 October 2008, 12:23

Friday 24th of October 10am at Tolworth Juniors spoke to 340 people
Oh. My. Gosh!!
I have never, ever found a performance so rewarding as my first as a Young Speaker at Tolworth Juniors today. I was so so SO nervous beforehand as I haven't been on stage (plus we hadn't had a proper proper run without loads of mistakes!) for a few years but the kids at Tolworth were the best audience we could have hoped for! Old Speakers Harry and Ben were amazing at keeping our energy levels going, although I was so buzzing by the end I think Harry had to throw a few stern looks my way to calm me down! The performance today has made me realise just how important the play, the initiative, the amazing support from Noor our director and Ann-Marie is in encouraging children to make small changes to their everyday actions. It was so funny after we had to finished the play to see all the kids swarming around Tope, who plays Snazzy: It was like he was a celebrity! I feel privileged and proud after today's performance to be a Young Speaker: bring on the rest!! 24 October 2008, 13:43

we also managed to recruit six people to join this organisation and spread the word!!!!!
We asked every one to think about one thing they would ask everyone to do if they want to change the world.

Friday 7th of November 8am at Sarah Bonnell School spoke to 180 people
The presenation ws slightly daunting at first because it was in a really quiet assembly hall and we were told we only had 8 mins to spread the Wearewhatwedo message!!!! that was not enough as we soon found out!!! first, our DVD didn't work, then we uploaded another presentation off the internet which worked but with no sound!! :( !!! In about 5 mins we tried our best to give a good presentation but we left feeling slightly weary about what the girls there had learnt about wearewhatwedo....maybe go back again soon....but one good thing ....one of the girls there had one a prize for giving an action...so maybe she can tell her friends a bit more about wearewhatwedo!!! 02 October 2008, 11:35
Friday 7th of November 8am at Sarah Bonnell School spoke to 180 people
the presentation had to be done with limited time but we tried our best to get the message through anyway. we also had a few problems with the audio so much of the presentation was us speaking about our own experiences with we are what we do. just a little advice for other young speakers...try to prepare yourself incase the school doesn't have the video facilities because you can still spread the word about we are what we do by improvising and verbally telling the children about small actions. :) 02 October 2008, 11:35

Todays performance was my favourite to date.it was an all male cast with no support or music guy and we had a ball. The kids were fun, well behaved and loved the play. and when we split up to do two workshops we covered everything and had time to do the role play with the kids, we did an improvised scene and got kids to bring there own characters in and decide what happend next in the scene. We also got the teacher to act aswell. In short, the kids were cool, the teachers were wonderful, and the actors were brilliant.definately the funniest performance of all and if not one of the best-then thee best performance and work shop to date!! Vernon actor/young speaker. 01 October 2008, 15:47
Wednesday 8th of October 9am at St Winefride's RC Primary School spoke to 60 people
The children were very engaged during the presentation. There were no interuptions or distractions from the audience which is a good indication that the children were interested throughout. Later on in the day, children were following up the actions presented eg suggesting we turn off lights in the classrooms which is some indication that the message got through. The girls were extremely well prepared and pitched the level of their input just right. The presentation was very slick and the presenters were enthusiastic in their delivery. They were confident and came acroos as being geniunely committed to the whole concept. Helen Pree, TeacherToday Roselyn and I presented at St Winifred's primary school. It went really well, the kids were enthusiastic to take part and listened. They were also able to answer questions form their teacher about what they heard and understood the message so well done us!! :P 01 October 2008, 13:22

Young Speakers came to Malden Manor last Thursday and I've just received your email asking for feedback.I thought at first that it would just be Y6 who would benefit so was very pleased to be told that Y4 and 5 could come too - a good start!
The content was appropriate and effective with the children still talking about the characters the following day.
The children were encouraged to join in with various parts and were extrememly well controlled by the actors!
It was a great performance and the children came away with a lot of ideas, so thank you very much.

Hi it's vernon, actor/young speaker, the plays today were great and the work shops also, brilliant coz the kids always give us different actions and ideas for actions. They really do get it. The first school we did was great-it was our best performance and the kids were well behaved, it was also special because a child with autism who never really speaks in school, took part and got up in front of everyone and spoke about the play and helped us do the ending. The second school were very hyper active and did heckle A LOT, the most we have ever had! But the actors coped very well and the kids were brilliant in the work shop. Vernon. 25 September 2008, 11:36

Great! The kids really enjoyed it as well - really great introduction to what We Are What We Do is all about. Really great idea to have 6th formers coming in - they're such role models. Serin Patel, TeacherIt was really good they really listened and laughed a lot at the animations - we had to calm them down! They really liked the Mobile animation as even tho they were quite young, they did admit to charging fones up at nite. they realized from the presentation that everythign small they do is counting up and alot of them went smiling off from the presentation after they gave their own ideas like helping people, and most of them were after recycling rubish. They all enjoyed the presentation tho 04 September 2008, 18:11

To start off with i felt a bit nervous because i saw all of both year 5 and 6 sitting in front of me waiting for some entertainement. Therefore my main aim was to grab their attention, which i felt i achieved. The main way to do this was to include them as part of the presentation, and when i asked for volunteers, nearly all of them raised their hands, which meant that what i had hoped for was working. Also those that did not raise their hands, or those seen to be sitting quitely in one place were given a chance to speak. As well as myself, the other presenters that came along with me were salma, and huma, who also encouraged students to speak and follow what the we are what we do organisation believe in as well as keeping the presentation alive!! Overall i would like to say that for our first presentation, it was an excellent one. Me, Salma and Huma also believe that the whole point of the presentation was to pass on our message, which we feel that we acomplished successfully. We are looking forward to many more presentations which we hope will be even better. 15 July 2008, 16:09

An exhibition about going Green
I have naturally been a green person since I was a child, recycling old boxes to make a barbie house rather than getting one brought (probably because my parents wouldn’t buy me one), using as less electricity as possible etc. Now as the Exhibition Officer at Brent Museum doing an exhibition about being green was easy to programme, especially as council are attempting to give it a big push this year.
It was supposed to be an exhibition about ecology and parks in Brent but it got slightly highjacked as I began to shape it and got Ines from the Environment Policy team in on the act. The result is Greenopaedia which opened to the public on Friday 23rd May and will run until Sunday 2nd November 2008. The idea was to show people how easy it was to be green and what the benefits are to them, such as saving money if you turn off unused lights etc. Having spoken to people it’s amazing how many just don’t realise this or don’t think about it so I really hope the exhibition will highlight this and get people changing their habits. It has the same ethos as We Are What We Do, small changes from a lot of people means a big result. There are also interactives in the exhibition with green lingo/ terms explained and a spot the litter panel – you can begin being green from any age (the younger you start the better actually). I also worked with lots of local groups who are attempting to get make changes for the better and have come across some great ideas and projects and am using Greenopaedia as a way of letting people know how they can get involved with these projects.
The exhibition will tour after it has closed at the museum so I really hope that it will help spread the word and get people making those small but significant changes now! 06 June 2008, 11:00
Spread the word...
Little steps. Everyone can take them and the benefits ripple out into the world. I love this site and am new to it.
Recently, after becoming sick of my own inaction, I started my own blog. A normal person taking her own small steps to make change.
I would love to hear from people taking their own steps.... contribute at daisygreenorg.blogspot.com

Tell me the rules and the game, and I will figure o
That has always been my montra, tell me the rules, and figure out a way to win. I coach young men in baseball and basketball. I tell them constantly, they must learn to play with the rules they are given and find a way to overcome. I have never let my coaching or myself be controlled by boundaries. I got out of college in 1985, I found a man that was starting a company. I loved him and the company. 11 years ago, I started getting sick, but my wife, had just delivered my daughter. We did not have a name for her but someway the name HOPE came to us and we never knew if how God had given us her.
I also have a son, he was 2, and a mini me already. I was living the American Dream. I was working 12, 15, hours a day, 6, and 7 days a week to make the company grow. I was taught if there was no bone sticking out of you...that you are not hurt. My grandmother, was part Cherokee and said when you lay down you die. I kept going, my wife, stopped working to raise our children. I started setting goals. Each year a little higher, each year a little bigger. The company was growing, then Nov 2006, I was having so many migraines, and fatigue that I was begining to struggle not to lay down. A friend told us about a Chronic Pain specialist. I relucantly went, not with an open mind. Remember this has been 11 years now that I was hurting and countless doctors had said they could fix me. Three days later we got a call to come into the office. She began by telling me my immune system was shot, she continued to tell me I had chronic Lyme disease with multiple viruses and co-infections.
I began extensive treatments, I had sold my interest in the company to help offset expense. My once partner told me I had a job as long as I wanted it. I finished treatments in May and was ready to try to go back to work. May 26th, I recieved a registered letter stating that I was fired. Shocked, angry, hurt, all described my feelings. It took me 2 more months before I could find the energy to go to work. A man named Bob Scales, called me and said he had a job for me and wanted to pay it forward. I am 45, Bob has known "of" me for at least 20 years. I accepted the job, but the stress of not getting paid by my previous employer, the disability companies never paying, and the Rage I was carrying I began to fall backwards this time mentally as well as physically. I resigned Nov 12, one day before my son's 14th birthday. It is now Febuary, I have this horrible cycle that goes something like this, a few good days, a few not so good days, and a few more bad days, and then several horrible days. Little things now throw me over the edge, I have no control of mind, body, or soul.
I have made a promise to myself, my family, my teams, my friends, and everyone else that I have had reach out to help and promised to pay it forwards and backwards. Each day I look for something simple, actually, baby steps to make someone else's day a little better. Give a mother digging through her purse in an effort to find a quarter so her daughter can ride the mechanical pony at the grocery story. Handing her that fifty cents did me much more good then it the girl enjoying the ride. I watched from outside the store so I could let her mother enjoy the ride also.
I have failed at many things. I believe failure is part of success, and those who dont fail are probably not extending themsleves enough. I lived my life with some simple rules. Rule #1 anything worth doing is worth doing again. Rule #2, is give people what they want and you will get want you need. Rule #3. If your going to JUMP, close your eyes and jump with both feet. Rule#4 is my newest rule, do a random act of kindness, help someone daily, show the ones you love really how much you love them.
Since that Nov 2006, we have had many "bumps in the road". I describe it as being in a hole so deep that you have to bend your head straight up to see the light. I am trying to climb out of the hole but at times water comes rushing in.
For those you have been in their own hole, it will get better, embrace those that offer their help and forget those who turn their backs on you. SO MY ACTION IS SPREAD THE WORD, HELP THOSE WHETHER FRIEND, FAMILY, OR STRANGER THAT HAVE FALLEN IN THEIR OWN HOLE THAT YOU ARE THERE TO HELP. IT SEEMS THAT THE MORE I TELL MY STORY THE MORE I FIND OTHERS THAT HAVE "FALLEN" SOMETIMES IN A CRACK WHERE IT IS HARD FOR THEM TO BE SEEN OR HELPED. PAY IT FORWARD! ONE WAY IS TO TAKE BABY STEPS AND DO RANDOM ACTS OF KINDNESS. 08 February 2008, 23:10

Save our 23 Primary Schools, Please, Please Help!!
Isle of Wight Council is planning to CLOSE 23 of our successful 43 Primary Schools on the Island. Many of these are fantastic village schools where the staff know every child's name and most of the parents too. Have a look at our website www.onegreenisland.co.uk, please don't forget us, think of our Carbon Footprint. We walk our children to school, we are very lucky, the Isle of Wight is very green, the crime rate is low and large areas are designated Areas Of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Please support us, we need advice on peaceful protest. Beware, this could happen in you area, please help us.

starting up
I plan to start campaigning in my local area (South Lanarkshire in Scotland) to get rid of plastic bags. I plan to start by approaching shops with the We Are What We Do poster, but I also want to be able to provide details of how to start using paper bags to retailers - any information on this would be appreciated! If anyone lives in my area then please get in touch so we can work together x 13 January 2008, 13:31

I really think that Brazil should have a website, an organization like this one. I'm sure it would make great difference... Is it possible to start a program with you, but here in Brazil? I can help... 04 December 2007, 13:42
